Research

Dr. Namikas is interested in coastal and aeolian geomorphology, particularly in issues related to sediment transport and short term processes operating in these environments. Ongoing projects are focused on key factors that influence aeolian sediment transport in coastal environments, including the roles of surface moisture content and vegetation. He is working with students to develop improved techniques and approaches to measuring and modeling the dynamics of these key factors, and to incorporate them into more realistic models of coastal aeolian systems.
