About the Center for Energy Studies
Mission
For more than four decades, the LSU Center for Energy Studies (CES) has provided objective research and analysis on energy-related topics impacting Louisiana’s economy, environment, and citizens. Established by the Louisiana Legislature in 1982, CES serves as a resource for policymakers, industry leaders, and the public by delivering timely insights on energy trends, policies, and technologies.
Our Role
The Center’s role was expanded under Act No. 727 of the 2024 Louisiana Legislative session. CES collaborates with the Office of Energy within the Department of Energy & Natural Resources to develop and implement a centralized energy data and information program. This initiative enhances the state’s ability to track, analyze, and respond to energy developments effectively.
